Hello from Guelph, Ontario

Hi everyone,

My name is Sarah and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician. I have been working in the veterinary field for over 15 years. My passion is working with avian and exotic species. I am fortunate to work at a university in a department exclusively dedicated to exotics. We have two red foot tortoises that we love and adore. I adopted them from a client about three and a half years ago. The previous owners purchased them 25 years before that and at the time were told that they wouldn't live more than 10 years. Their previous owners loved them dearly but were not quite expecting such longevity. After 25 years of ownership they decided to find them a loving home. The previous owners were in their 80's and could not give them the best care they thought they should provide. Thankfully Ann and Fran (aka "A" and "B", aka "1" and "2") will be our girls forever <3 We also have 3 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats who find the girls amusing.

Hello,and Welcome. As much as you think your dogs and cats think the torts are amusing, please do not let them be near your torts without 100% plus supervision. Specially the dogs, they will eventually use the torts as a chew toy. We have seen it way too many times on here where the people said it would never happen, until it happened and at the poor torts expense

I am well aware of the consequences of pets interacting with one another if left unattended. They do not bother with them and my girls have an enclosure that is safely constructed so the other pets are unable to be intrusive. Thanks for your concern.

Hi Taza! Nice to meet you. Guelph is such a beautiful city. It's also handy living in a city with the only exotics specialist in Ontario maybe I'll see you around one day!
