This is Shelley who I found wandering about near our house
last September.

This forum has been a godsend for being able to find out what NOT to do.

Shelley has made a burrow under our deck and comes and goes quite happily. She's put on quite a bit of weight since we got her and grown wider.

I love watching her - when I lay on the lawn to take her pic, she came marching over to see what I was up to.

Thank you for the welcome. I think Shelley had been abandonned (a common thing out here with pets) and was on the move looking for food. We have had quite a bit of rain here over what passes for our winter and there was one day where there was a deluge causing havoc everywhere. I was driving home and raced out to see if she was ok and found her exiting her burrow - smart tort! I took her in for the night and the next day was able to let her go outside again.

I'm very grateful for the amount of information there is here, it got us off to a good start.
