I went to Calif recently to help my injured sister with her animals. So one day I am feeding the box turtles, and I am watching the ground so I don't trip...oh lo! and behold!!! I finally found a turtle, finally, he still had his egg tooth and just as shiny as a new penny. Well, I did think he was a button, but it moved when I picked him up...SCREAM SCREAM I FOUND ONE. I go running in to my sister, she got real excited too. She says she thinks he's possibly a cross between a 3-toed and Florida maybe? Anyhow, in a box he goes, and up to Oregon, the magnificent emerald of the Pacific Northwest.
I set up a 2.5 gallon aquarium and put the whole thing in a box turtle pen.

Good eyes!!! I am convinced by decades of observation that only those that are hard-wired to see turtles will see a baby! She's so cute!

Nice way to start your weekend!

So time has passed and Grumpyface is 13 grams now. He seems to gain 1/2 a gram daily. He eats tiny meal worms, and I dig up red wigglers and night crawlers, he so far will only eat live food, not berries. He's cute and healthy

Well now a 30 gallon tank makes sense for such a tiny one!
2.5 gallons, lol that way he's getting benefit from the UVB bulb in the tort table, and is kept warm but he's not cooking under a heat bulb and he's fairly easy to find in it...I thought it was a pretty good idea. The other box turtles keep trying to get thru the glass and get those worms lol he's very active and just so damn cute!
