Hi everyone! My tortoise Chompy is loving his testudo mix from tortoise supply. Can I eliminate all grocery store greens now that he's eating this? I have a lot growing and still have most of the seeds left and plan on just growing these for awhile. I still can't get him to eat the zoomed grassland food and i have been trying for a month. The only way he would is if it was all I fed him. And then he would starve himself for a week first. Stubborn butt hole that he is :)

I love Tyler's Testudo Mix, but I wouldn't feed ANY one thing exclusively. I'd continue adding in endive, escarole and other leafy greens for variety.

None of my tortoises will walk up and eat plain ZooMed. Start by soaking just one pellet, or even a partial pellet. Once it turns to mush, thoroughly mix it up with the days greens. Do this everyday for a couple of weeks at least, and soon the taste, smell and texture will become accepted as part of the normal diet. Over time you can gradually increase the ratio, if you want.

Here is a list of other stuff to feed Chompy:
Mulberry leaves
Grape vine leaves
Hibiscus leaves
African hibiscus leaves
Blue hibiscus leaves
Rose of Sharon leaves
Rose leaves
Geraniums
Gazanias
Lavatera
Pansies
Petunias
Hostas
Honeysuckle
Cape honeysuckle
Leaves and blooms from any squash plant, like pumpkin, cucumber, summer squash, etc...
Young spineless opuntia cactus pads

Weeds:
There are soooooooo many...
Dandelion
Mallow
Filaree
Smooth Sow thistle
Prickly Sow thistle
Milk thistle
Goat head weed
Cats ear
Nettles
Trefoil
Wild onion
Wild mustard
Wild Garlic
Clovers
Broadleaf plantain
Narrow leaf plantain
Chick weed
Hawksbit
Hensbit
Hawksbeard

Other good stuff:
"Testudo Seed Mix" from http://www.tortoisesupply.com/SeedMixes
Pasture mixes or other seeds from http://www.groworganic.com/seeds.html
Homegrown alfalfa
Mazuri Tortoise Chow

That is exactly what I have been doing but he's still ruining his food as soon as he gets a taste of it. Oh well I'll just keep at it. Thanks!
