Sorry the pictures are poor quality…the pyramiding is sad, but at the time it was standard practice to raise tortoise the way this one was raised.
@Tom you've met my nephew, would you say he lacks in tortoise knowledge?

My nephew is one to be proud of. He is one of the curators of the reptile house at L.A. County Zoo. Before Steve Irwin passed, they were very close friends. I reluctantly live too far from he and his family.
