What is the funniest question you have been asked? People that are unfamiliar with tortoises ask some funny things. Last weekend I had my daughters soccer team and families for dinner. One of the moms was looking at my sulcatas and asked if I bought them new shells as they grew. I just had a funny vision in my head of going to the closet to get out a new shell!! LOL I kept a straight face and explained how it worked!

I would have had a hard time not laughing my head off with that one....
Most people just simply cannot understand the love of turts/torts

ROFL! That is a funny question! I haven't had too many questions... although some of my friends desperately wanted to know how they procreate! Thank bob for youtube to get me through that one! :p

That is so funny:D, never had that question before. lol I think my biggest thing is they get called turtles no matter what they are. People don't get that turtles and tortoises are not the same.

Yah, I get the procreation question a lot and all torts are turtles. But the shell question is by far the best. I would have not been able to contain myself with laughter.:p:p You are soooo good

I don't think it was that hard to keep a straight face because I was so boggled by the question. I think I might have stared at her for a minute or so though! LOL

You know, I wonder how that person thought the torts got new shells in the wild? I mean, how often do you see a shell-less tortoise walking into K-mart and asking for a size 14 shell? ROFL!

I'm sure they are familiar with hermit crabs
and simply associated the behaviors of torts with hermit crabs.
That is rich though.

I had a friend ask what my turtle tasted like?
I never got to the bottom of that, luckily he now
lives on the other side of the country (Sorry West Coasters).
