Hello basically im a complete novice in the tortoise caring community and would greatly appreciate some advice. My neighbours found this little fella in their garden and handed it over to me - as they were more clueless than me. Hoping this is just a temporary thing and we will find out the owner soon, so just need some advice how to care for him. Should i keep him inside or outside? What shall i feed him? Etc. I live in the South East of England in Kent so the temperature is warm and humid at the moment, so thinking hes ok to be outside?

Thanks for the help in advance!

George

A species from the testudo family for sure. Greek maybe?

You can check out any of the caresheets from the Mediterranean section...their care is virtually identical. Outside is good if you can manage it. But they are escape artists (probably how you got this guy to begin with) so an outside enclosure needs to be escape/predator proofed.

As do i, glad hes back home. The owner said hes getting a bit good at escaping and reckon its our chickens that attracted him to our garden cos of the noise haha. He was going after the dogs too little bugger!

This was my other guess, but it didn't seem quite skirty enough to me. I'm not all that familiar with them though.
