I've been having discussions with several breeders about the value of UV B to forest type torts and we feel that bulbs are at best useless and at worst damaging to eyesight of these torts. I am not talking of natural sun light in outdoor habitat.
I can see how bright florescent lights can damage anyone's eyes. Especially one sitting right on top of a tortoise table. But I have no idea. It would be interesting to know just how much sun light redfoots are exposed to in the wild..
I also am finding this management procedure for asian forest torts (i.e. Manouri emys). www.hjem.get.dk/jagge/emys/thesis.pdf . This has a wealth of info on the habits and habitat of a rainforest tort.
