I cannot find any cheap incandescent flood bulbs online easily anymore. I came across this incandescent Fluker's basking bulb which states that it is a "Spotlight" bulb but from the images the light bulb looks more like a flood bulbs. Does anyone know if it really is a flood bulb or a Spotlight one? It would really make my life easier because it is much cheaper. Here is the link, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006L2UBU/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20 Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen tests of this lamp but from specs it looks like a flood bulb. Tom also mentioned it as an acceptable option a few times.

On arrival, check if the bulb sleeve is made of frosted glass (with some makers that's the only difference between flood and spot bulbs).

The makers and sellers sometimes confuse the terms which makes it harder for the buyers to know what to get. You want a wide beam that spreads the heat out, not an arrow beam that focuses the heat. This shows it better than anything:

That bulb is a flood type bulb. Flood bulbs are know as BR type bulbs. That stands for bulged reflector. Spot bulbs are PAR - Parabolic aluminum reflector. So, when you see the bulged look to the reflector part of the bulb - you are looking at a flood type.

The number refers to the diameter of the bulb in 1/8" increments. So a PAR30 is a spot bulb with a 30/8 diameter = 3-3/4" diameter.

Here's a picture to illustrate:

These are the exact Fluker's bulbs that I buy from Amazon, and I would recommend them. I can confirm it has white frosted glass on the sides and the bulging top of a flood bulb. Their 75w bulbs seem to be longer-lasting from my experience.

Additionally, have a IR heat gun handy, You want to shoot the area that will be the spot under the beam.Do this after it has been on for a bit. You don't want it too hot, or too cool.
