I'm soon going to be the proud new owner of a Hermann hatchling (just under 1yo), however I'm slightly confused as to how you actually attach the UVB tube lights (Arcadia T8 desert 10.0 18" UV light) to the side of the tortoise table. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me!

You need to hang the light ABOVE the basking spot. UVB lights should never be mounted on the sides of enclosures as the light needs to be coming from above the tortoise when they are the closest to the bulb

It depends upon the type of reflector your bulb is mounted in. Mine has holes on top to affix small chains or wire and I hang them from a bracket over the habitat. I made the bracket out of scrap lumber.

On a side note,I would recommend using T5 bulbs instead of T8's. They have a much better UVB and light output, T8's can be used but you need to hang them a good amount lower to get decent UVB levels.
