Made this encloser out of a tv stand that i wasnt using anymore since i got a wall mount. sprayed down the wood with water sealer then addded a layer of some vinyl paper throughout the thing for moisture resistance and relocated a few boards and screws cost me about 15$. so after about a month of tweaking this and that puttings things in and throwing things out i think its come to a stop for construction of my little red foots home.. for now... previously i had some live plants to add shade and hold humidity but they would all die from too much heat being directly under the light so i removed them and opted for silk plants for shade seems to do the job. encloser is 16"x48" temps from 80-85 directly under the light and 78-80 on the dark end, night time temps are about 73-78 across the entire encloser. cypress mulch with a top layer of sphagnum for substrate.

in the day i usually catch them sittin in the water dish or trying to climb their hide and nib at the silk plants or just napping a shady spot, later in the evening one of them sleeps in hide and the other will goto the dark end and burrow into the moss (couldnt find him one time and thought someone took him out)

next project is maybe getting a layer of irish moss to cover some of the ground to help hold a bit more moister so i dont have to mist so heavily so often to keep the humidity up and some cosmetic appeal with a "green lawn", just found some seeds recently and i guess i'll see how that goes here in a couple weeks

That's great. Remind me...what kind of tortoise is going to live in there? Was it a redfoot? I like what you've done. I wonder how hard its going to be for the tortoise to have to walk on all that moss, though. If its a very small tortoise it might be pretty unstable for him. Why not just have the moss in one area?

Looks good to me. I think the torts can plow through the moss pretty well. But I do have large patches of compacted eco-earth for them to walk on between patches of moss.

What kind of bulbs are those? One looks like a compact flourescent??

Ooo it's like a little forest- I love it!
My Russian has a section of his enclosure that has several fake plants (I call it his forest) and he loves to hang out there :) He also likes to climb the plants

Most of moss is pretty flattened out except for the dark end where it's kinda fluffy to burrow in. The light that's on is a 100w mvb and the one next to it is a 100w ceramic heat emitter for night time a 60w heat emitter on the dark end stays on half way on the dimmer all day n night

Over by the two hide pots is what looks like a pot or bowl that is sitting upright. What is it for? Does it maybe hold water?

Use to be a pot where I was planting turnip greens but they would keep getting to the sprouts and eating them lol so it's just there to block off the corner so the torts don't climb the hide
