What I looked at was the short tail . Males usually have a longer tail

It does look female at this point, but looking at the plastron, this tortoise is most likely waaaay too small to sex reliably. Marginated tortoises under 8" may look female even when they are male. Wait another few years...

I concur. Marinated are quite tough to accurately sex until they are much bigger in size and age.

No way of knowing the exact age. Would be a guess. Ill guess 2 or so years old.
