I've always wanted to have some edible plants in my enclosure for my RFs. Turns out that o don't have the green thumb. Is it OK to have fake plants in my enclosure? my tort won't try to eat it would she?

My Russian tortoise nibbled on one of the fake plants and tried to eat the other one. So I took them out and put in Jade plants and spider plants. And Pothos. If I can keep them alive anybody can, give them a try.

i have fake plant's in my redfoot enclosure and have had no problems just watch to make sure when i first put them in there was 1 test bite then realized it wasn't eatable and moved on

Russian's and red foot's are very different in personality and in care there is no one care sheet that is good for all tort's each individual species needs to be researched for the best care of that species

yeah, no probs here either with the silk plants....I would though, pay attention to not get some of the really bright red/yellow ones and also not any that have fake berries....

Everyone can have a green thumb, just by looking up the way to care for plants, checking their gardening zones, and planting at the correct times :D I don't have experience with fake plants, sorry!

I tried (SEVERAL TIMES!) to add live plants to my russian's table, and he killed them all. I then I killed some. So I gave up and made my own plants! I'm able to have plants, and they can't die! which is a rather big plus :D

I never thought about hanging plants! That's a good idea, I should try it. I;m making my next enclosure slightly taller, so I might be able to squeeze some taller and 'hardier' (until they meet my tort...) that might do a bit better under hot, humid conditions. And can take a lot of abuse :D
