Poor thing. It is funny though. Glad s/he had a soft landing. Let us know how many more times he/she tries it before its figured out, it doesn't work.

Aw, so cute.
My Sheldon kept doing that but that meant time for a new hide. I kept finding him on his back. Very scary.

So I use a satellite for connecting to the Internet machine, and because of this I have a fixed amount of downloads on a daily basis. I rarely watch the YouTube videos because that can stall me for 24 hrs. I did, however, watch this video and I was very pleased with the decision. Great musical score and fun video. I've even emailed the link to others. Thanks for taking the time to create it and for sharing it.

Very cute! That video (or a similar one) was on Daily Squee a while back, and my husband emailed it to me. My Greek tort does that, too, and it just boggles my mind WHY.
I don't want to humanize tortoise emotions and say he does it for fun... but he wanders all around his enclosure, and then laboriously climbs up onto his half log (not his only hide), and slooooowly death-splats off the end. Then wanders about some more, and does it again. He's active and healthy, and has a good amount of space.
