Hi! I have a 2 year old red foot. Recently he has been more focused on the glass and trying to get out (which is something new). His conditions have been the same (80 degrees in enclosure, ~80% humidity, UV-B and LED lights on for ~12hr). I know. eventually I will need to get him a bigger enclosure (it's 2ft by 4ft) but for now I'm trying to figure out how to change his enclousre so he's less interested in the glass.

I'm trying to find a way to make his enclosure more interesting. I'm currently adding more substrate for digging. I also thought about adding a ramp system but I want to find something that won't mold in the high humidity and something that has siding so he won't fall. I've been looking on amazon and can't find something that would work! I also need to upgrade his hide but am struggling to find something that looks big enough and will look nice in the new enclosure!

If anyone has any suggestions that would be super helpful!

Thank you!

The temperature should be more around 84°. Food and water dish should be flush with the substrate for easier access for the tortoise. Uv light only needs to be on 4 hrs a day. What i do is every few months i reconfigure the inside of the enclosure to promote them to explore everything. Also creating visual barriers so they can't see everything from everywhere helps. Early on in his life Mojo was at the glass but now he just people watches or pace back and forth in front of it when food hasn't been delivered on time.

Do yo have any ideas for other things I can add into my enclosure to make it more interesting for him?

Yes!! Artemis would love something like this! What did you use/how did you make this? Does the wood ramp get moldy with the humidity?
I got the ramps from petco they are hamster ramps the wood side walls are from hobby lobby. The other ramp has thin plexiglass. They sit on top of dry orchid bark so no mold so far they have been in there better than a year. Important note protect them from the heat source when building a ramp or 2nd level. That's what the greenery is for, to block direct heat from CHE's. The pink hides are flower pots from Lowe's

Feel free to check out these links for some ideas and inspiration!

For the indoor side of things, Hopefully this thread might be be helpful, I primarily made it for folks that I’d seen with adult red foots in already very small open set ups as a means of instant improvement, not every average new member can modify entire rooms or sheds. That said, I go over a greenhouse set up here with ceramic bulbs, but a modified room/shed with RHP(s) and oil heating would be much more optimal for an adult red foot, however if you’re ever needing an indoor upgrade, perhaps follow these steps and start saving for a better future set up. This housing thread covers correct equipment(uvb, heating bulbs, lighting etc, never hurts to double check bulb types), correct levels, importance of a closed chamber for red foots(only way to maintain the humidity you need indoors), appropriately maintaining the humidity(they are prone to shell rot so this is important! No misters or humidifiers), safe substrates, there’s lots of visual examples for everything, a diet list and a really handy diet link to check out! If going with a greenhouse, the lower the ceiling height, whilst still allowing for recommended bulb height, the better! But I’ll add some more ideas below for closed chambers If you need them come size up time

This includes different closed chambers, some work better than others and there’s lots of lovely landscape ideas in here too!

This includes lots of inspiration for an adult set up both indoors and out! The indoor bit has some good ideas to tackle indoor space whilst still providing the needed roaming room! And again, lots of decor ideas! Check comments too, I’m always adding to it, anything indoors will need to be a closed chamber style

Hope you like them!🐢💚
