Ha ha .. Anthony .... yes I picked up two of them . Can they stay year round in my pond here in SO.CAL with no heat? My RES use too no probs ... bred like friggin rabbits... they only wild babies I would find on the property.....

In my estimation, they would be more than fine outdoors there. All three subspecies of Trachemys scripta are more tolerant than we could even imagine. They are just so hardy.

Makes sense when you consider sliders survive some of the coldest American winters. Sometimes in cold winters, not like in SoCal, they will hibernate fine, but they may or may not be able to reproduce in those areas.

I don't think there is much that can stop these turtles though. They surely would breed and thrive in SoCal.

I figure they would be just fine .... and sure alot of fun to watch in the little pond.....I might add~:)

I like your thinking my wife said no more big snakes . Now I have big tortoises . Two red ears and a snapping turtle . Haha take that .:D:D:D(don't tell the wife )

It's really no biggie .... just nice to hear the water running ...

there is a few koi , the frogs , and now the lil yella fella's

How do you maintain a pond like that? Is there filters? Pumps? Heaters?

Hahaha.....more like darn Galapagos Tortoise ads, I'm struggling so bad. I think I'm going to wait until next year, but your pics aren't helping me out.
