Yes, they are native to the Neotropics and any within reach of a tort (ie. redfoot or yellowfoot) will be eaten.

Yes, however, please make sure to wash it under the faucet first, and transplant it into organic soil and let it grow there for a few weeks/months before feeding it to your tortoise. Nurseries use fertilizers and insect killers, and those can be really harmful to your tortoise. Once it has grown in a toxin-free environment for a while, it can go into the tort table as edible decoration. :)

My tortoises will take a few bites out of our Christmas cactus, but it is growing.
