Here is a good example of what dogs do. A friend at work found this one in the backyard of his house. He didn't know this wild ornate got in his yard and his dog has been chewing on it.

Hopefully, the poor little blighter will make it.
They can be remarkably resilient, but shock can play a part.
Please, please, please.

He said it's just shell damage, turtle looks fine and is actually coming out. I have what I call my hospital enclosure and will clean things up and put it in there. My vet is a REALLY good friend that Fortunately doesn't charge me, will get this one on the road to recovery

more than likely it looks worse than it actually is. It's not nice to think about but turtle shells are designed to take a lot of punishment.

Agreed, I've seen some pretty bad ones and it didn't effect them. I have one that was hit by a mower

Dang it! This makes me mad. I've gone on quite a few rescues where the animal was gone by the time I got there. Why couldn't he have put it in a box or something.

More than likely, the turtle will be fine, but now that he's out again, it's quite possible flies will lay eggs on those raw spots.

I know it, he has his kids searching the yard. Hopefully they find it.

If his garage is cluttered, like so many are, the turtle could be under shelving units, behind lawn equipment, etc. One went renegade in my house once and it took a while to find. It was under the drapes where they hang down to the floor.

It's not possible the dog got it again, is it ?

No they had the dog in the backyard, and the front garage was open. They have a large wooded area just down the street so my guess is the little one headed back to the woods.
