Starting a few weeks ago, where my appetite started to decrease CH
Its main food is lettuce and hibiscus
but he did not want to eat it .. then I think that he's just bored with the food menu
then I try to replace it with a carrot, and he would eat his appetite back but still not as much as before when I was like mustard and hibiscus ...
his habits like carrots was only a few moments ... before long he was bored, I try to change his diet again with a watermelon .. he likes to eat again but not too long ago .. since the day before yesterday, he really stopped to eat

his weight was down a lot, even by naked eye can diliahat on its hind legs once fat now looks thin

do you think a fellow lover of CH, what happened to my CH?

I noticed there is no worm feces or mucus, diarrhea is also not even tend to be hard
the nose is also no mucus (runny nose)

What happened to the CH I have stopped to eat? what should I do? what should whether force feeding?

Hi Theo:

You are not offering your tortoise enough of a variety. Its hard for us to tell you what to feed him because we have different foods here in the U.S. than you can find in Indonesia. But try to give him more of a variety.

Here's a list of foods we use here:

GREENS

Romaine lettuce
Red and green leaf lettuce
Endive
Escarole
Chicory
Radicchio
Turnip greens
Mustard greens
Kale
Collards
Spring Mix (mixed salad greens)
cabbage (on occasion)

VEGETABLES

Yellow squash
Zucchini
Winter squash
Pumpkin
Carrots (on occasion)
Green Beans (on occasion)

FRUIT

Papaya
Mangos
Apples (be sure there are no seeds)
Strawberries
Blackberries
Cactus fruit
Tomatoes

OTHER GOOD CHOICES

Hibiscus (flowers and leaves)
Opuntia cactus pads
Hosta
Sedum
Mulberry leaves
Hen and Chicks
Ice Plants
Prickly pear flowers, fruit and pads (burn the spines off)
Dandelion
Plantain (not the banana type fruit....the weed plantago major)
Mallow (flowers and leaves)
Henbit
Rose (flowers and leaves....make sure no systemic pesticides were used)
Chrysanthemum flowers
Cornflowers Plagiobothrys ssp
Forsythia (flowers and leaves)
Dayflower Commelina diffusa (flowers and leaves)
Californian Poppy escholzia

Good luck. I hope with a change in diet your tortoise's appetite will perk up. Let us know.

When a Red-foot tortoise does not eat, it is usually because the cares are wrong, the food is wrong, or the tortoise is ill.

Is it being kept in a place that is warm and humid? Lots of good hiding places? Fresh water easily available? Is it being left alone most of the time so it can feel safe?

It should be offered a variety of foods. Mostly greens, leaves, flowers, grasses, lettuces, and so on, but also fruits and vegetables. Sometimes you can offer it a little chicken or worms or other meats. Yvonne gave you a good list.

If you can tell us more about how you are taking care of the tortoise, or maybe post a photo, we may be able to help more.

I do not have any other ideas yet. Hopefully it will like the new diet.

Redfoots (whether cherry-headed or yellow-headed) don't have uric acid in their urine, so I think that is just diarrhea. I agree with the posts above that, assuming the environment is the right temperature and humidity, your redfoot probably just needs a greater variety of food in its diet, especially fruits like those mentioned above (papaya, melons, strawberries, tomatoes, etc.).

The other, more serious possibility is that your tortoise might be suffering from gut compaction. Does your tortoise frequently ingest sand or wood when it feeds? Ingesting these things a few times is not important, but if it happens repeatedly, they can get stuck in the digestive tract. If you think this is a possibility, you should take your tortoise to a veterinarian.

I thought he was having digestive problems
which can not digest food properly
coab see papaya which he ate out the whole back

I really analysis?
In the first Photo,do I see a worm in the lower left corner of the feces? The feces definately doesn't look right. It should be brownish green and semi firm at least.I would get a veterinarian to check him out.
