Last year was kind of a bummer season for me as far as really pretty hatchlings was concerned. I hatched a few nice orange ones, including a genuine 'keeper' and of course we had the triplets hatch out (see all of the Triplet threads in the Tortoise Breeding section) but for the most part I didn't have any real beauties come out of the incubators in 2011.
So when the first neonate of 2012 hatched out and proved to be rather blah looking I was thinking, not again? But fortunately, the second hatchling of the year is a looker...

This little one has a strange mango color that is somewhat unusual...

Even his plastron and rear end is an odd color...

He has some mottled color on the neck as well and this will become more intense as he ages...

It reminds me of some of Allegra's 'OMG' hatchlings that are from her apricot colored female named Rambutan. I will certainly hang onto this one (at least for a few months) and see what colors emerge. Regardless, I am now eagerly awaiting the other 60 odd eggs to hatch.

Oh, Peanut is still kicking butt too. He is now a little toughy...

:D :D!! Peanut!!! My personal favorite of all the Cherryheads. :D This one is certainly a keeper, too. I would be so excited to have something like that in my group. I would say "Lucky you", but luck has little to do with it. You deserve lots of this type showing up in your incubator.

I want to steal Peanut SOOOOOO bad! What an adorable little squirt!

That Mango baby is AMAZING. Even the bottoms of his back feet are mango colored. WOW is all I can say.

The number of "mango" scales on the inside of its arms and soles of its feet are impressive! Very unique.

Mango is a real cutie. Looks like Peanut's body size is catching up to his head size, lol...the cutest of all!!
