They always look their best when they are wet and bathing. I love the color on our Russian.

She seems to enjoy soaking but won't soak on her own. My little greek I seen sitting in his waterbowl yesturday. Went in there on it's own lol. I literally have to put the russian in water.

Ya what a bless. Tortoises just love this it seems. My chaps adore it they stop wriggling close there little eyes and just lax little legs splayed out. Its so cute.

I take a jug of warm water and slowly pour it over them in a very shallow bath (actually their permanent water dish which they are always sitting in already)making sure the water doesnt fll over their heads and up their noses they just love this.

I notice and I didn't know (blush) but their shells are very sensitive. If I tickle their shells they sort rise up with their back legs, same as when I pour the tepid-warm water on them they sort of go oooh ahhh and move their carapace around a bit. I dipped my elbow in the water to make sure it wasn't too hot hehehe.

Sorry as a new tortoise father to hatchlings Im extremely protective, I was wondered if this little tortoises eyes were not a bit puffy? One of my hatchlings seems to have the same slight puffiness around the eye, which is driving me to distraction.

Might be the picture, but she does not have puffy eyes that I have noticed. I'll recheck her tomorrow.

From my own personal experience russians will soak on their own, but it has to be their choice and they have to be able to get out, mine soak outside in their water bowls on their own and seem quite content, try and put them into something to soak, and it turns them into holy little terrors.

Thanks everyone! I like her coloring too... she was the boldest looking of the 10-15 I picked from.

Ok, I get a bit anxious. Mine seems better everyday but when it arrived it looked a bit iffy around the eye. Its the black stripe one with a pink neck and black spots both on upper legs and neck. Maybe a bit sensitive. Otherwise its a little speedy but alway the first to go to sleep.
