Three years on May 28th that Alfa has been at our program. He has gained weight and constantly has new healthy consistent growth marks. This picture was taken today (May 22, 2015) of him eating fresh grass and weeds. This time of year is our rainy season and they truly love browsing on the new growth!

We took in excess of a thousand pictures today (May 22, 2015), here is a couple more of Alfa eating fresh grass and weeds as we were photographing him in the field!

Today was a great day, Norma was hand fed her last meal in segregation form her eye surgery. She has been segregated for three months for recovery and healing. Today she was released back into our breeding population and she seemed very happy. She ate wild fresh grass and weeds for several hours as we monitored and photographed her first few hours. She seems to have adjusted fantastically with only one eye.

Her cavity is healing beautifully. She will be just fine. Did dr.mader give a timeframe when she can be included in the group again? Or are you keeping her segregated until it's 100% healed?

~ She did heal nicely. Dr. Mader gave no direction to segregate her. Our decision based on many factors, worked out very well!

Was her eye removed because it f an injury?

~ Our vet was unsure exactly what caused the initial injury/infection, however at his direction surgery was our best option. We actually have fantastic pictures of the entire ordeal, including the actual surgery that I may at some point make a thread about. Thank you for your concern, she is well recovered and should have a normal fully functional life!

Those are some beautiful specimens of tortoise. Id like to buy some as soon as my business takes off and i buy a place with a giant backyard. How do these tortoises deal with having sulcatas as neighbors? Also, beautiful shephards you have there im jealous!
