Hey guys! I was wanting some enclosure and care tips. I am going to adopt a juvenile red foot tortoise, not sure of sex yet, and i was wondering how to keep its humidity up in the cage. I have tried everything. Spray it down constantly, poor cups of water in it, etc. i was wondering if i should buy a humidifier? It constantly stays at 40-60% humidity. Its a juvenile, so what percent should humidity be at. It has a perfect smooth shell. I am buying from a friend. Rn it is 6 inches, not sure how old, or the sex, and it is $200. Its a pretty fair price. This is my first tortoise too, so i am trying to gather as much info as possible. Thanks!!!

You need a humid hide. It is almost impossible to keep the whole enclosure at the right humidity.

You need a humid hide. It is almost impossible to keep the whole enclosure at the right humidity.

A humid hide is a good idea, but with a proper closed chamber enclosure, it will take little effort to maintain the recommended 85% relative humidity.
