Update:
Earlier I had 2 sulcatas, Stomper and Chomper. Unfortunately Stomper has passed on so this enclosure is only with 1 Sulcata. Humidity is about 70-80%, cool side temp is about 29celcius and basking about 34celcius and above. An yes, regular 15 minutes soak every morning in warm water. Bedding consists of coco peat at the bottom, coco course and on the surface, cypress mulch.

Hi guys. Seems that my baby sulcata has grown an abscess on its right cheek i would assume. I previously had another hatchling having the same thing a few weeks back and it removed the abscess itself but this little guy's abscess don't seem "ripe" enough to be removed. Looks pretty fresh. Should i wait it out to ripe then bring it to the vet or immediately to the vet? Has been 2 days already.

That sure looks like skin peeling away...like that area was injured and is sloughing off...perhaps it is the pic angle?.

Is the spot squishy at all to touch ? Or white puss coming out ?
If abcess it will be.

If truly abcess I'd like to a vet. If no access to vet I'd obtain some keflex/cephflexin the antibiotic. Usually can find it at pet stores here for cheaper than pharmacy. It's the same thing under name called fish flex. Open cap and sprinkle over food a little a tiny pinch, make sure he eats it so watch. It will not take a a lot for a little guy. Once a day for 3 days.

Keep him hydrated while on keflex even more so. 2 soaks a day.

But if seriously concerned I'd take to vet. Hope all is well !!!!

It doesn't look like an abscess to me. It just looks like some darker skin has peeled of and is now showing lighter, new skin underneath. This is an abscess:

Before this it was a big lump then it subsided into this clear lighter skin. I'll observe further then. Thanks for the advice guys :)

I would keep the affefted area clean...use a squeeze bottle and gently flush the entire area...I would then apply a light absorbant antiseptic ..and I would do that a couple of times a day for a ciuple of weeks...you may want to also apoly gentle pressure around the area and make sure it does not fill up again..

Hi kennrock, is it an abscess in the end?

My sulcata is facing a similar issue and im quite worried whether it is. It appeared suddenly and im worried its because of a new romaine lettuce i bought from another supplier and may have pesticide that i never wash off

20191015_073041.jpg Hi, i realised on monday that my baby sulcata have something swollen on its left cheek and i think that it may be possible abscess.

It only appeared this week and i think it may be because i fed it another supplier's romaine lettuce which have more pesticide ( i did washed it) but it may not be the reason either

. Could you guys help me to verify whether it is really abscezz and is there any way for me to alleviate it without a vet as there isnt any local vet around. Thanks!20191014_205452.jpg

Could you take a pic closer. 1 pic of the face and 1 from the side?

Is it hard with no drainage or soft? Also what are the small red spots on the top of his head. Right by the fold in the neck?

Hi when i press it it seems hard when i press it but my tortoise will always squeech and retract his head so im not sure and the red dots is just the substrate. Here are more photo20191016_203640.jpg i took from yesterday.

He probably retracting his head because he is not used to being touched like that. If he is not rubbing it and it doesn't have any discharge. I think you might find it's normal growth. A few months ago my sully had 3 bumps on top of the head across the nose area. One was bigger than the other 2. After time it just became part of his face. I think you will be ok.

Good question. If it's not bothering his eye site ,ability to eat and he isn't rubbing it. I would wait and see what it does.

Hi,occasionally it seems to be rubbing it (like turning its head sideway so its leg can rub the side of its face but im not sure if it is rubbing the abscess or just a reflex

I would try what ascott suggested in a earlier post.
