A quick outdoor pen question

I have a pretty large yard that is surrounded by a chain link fence. Could a large sully stay in the yard without a pen? At a larger size, is he still under threat from raccoons, possums, skunks etc.?

I have a wooden privacy fence. Mine roams the yard all day, but I lock him in his pen at night.

The best idea is to lock him in a night box for the night, most members do this.
