Today Princess Francesca Tortolini passed away while soaking her in her squash baby food and calcium. I thought she was doing better. Her eyes were opening a little more often and she would be a little more active someways. I even thought before her soak, her shell was a little firmer :-( the kids have been hysterical for hours, so I haven't shown how upset I am. I really loved her :-( my husband called the pet store and he thinks they may give us another... I don't know... It will take me a while to warm up to another.. Thanks for all your advice and support as well as inbox messages!! Xoxo

Sorry tp hear about the little guy, a word of advice though, getting another one from the same pet store may be a bad idea. Just something to think about. Once again please accept my condolences.

Thanks so much everyone!!!!! I really do appreciate all your reply's and messages!! I feel like your all family as INSAINE as that sounds!! It has been a hard month!! What made it worse was we went to the pet store where my husband bought Genny. 2 of her brothers and sisters were still there and they were huge compared to Genny. One was being sold to a small child. The grandmother was buying it for her and the mother didn't want it. The owner of the store was saying there so easy to care for and feed them carrots and fruit and recommended a dry habitat with alphalfa pellets. I wanted to scream! I said oh and check out the Tortise forum and they rolled there eyes at me. I walked out crying. I didn't cry at all until then. I have 6 kids and they were heart broken historical so I wanted to be strong but when I knew one was going home with that family without what it needed. I was heart broken! My husband thought they were going to give us another but they were not. They were charging $200 for them. I know there not the best to buy from but the fact we saw Gennys brothers and sisters and the kids got more upset and I got upset made it worse. We all just left a big mess! I feel so bad! She died while being soaked. I am worried she couldn't keep her head up and drown!?! The water wasn't deep!! Ahhhh I feel terrible!! Thanks again so very much! Xoxox

Nope, you were an exceptional caregiver. She was going to die anyway, she did not drown. Take comfort in the fact that her short life was much, much better for your care than it would have been without.
It is entirely possible that she had some kind of congenital defect that prevented her from thriving.
I cannot imagine anyone else doing a better job.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Just take solace in the fact that you provided an excellent environment for her, and that's the best thing you could've done.

So sorry. I know how hard you tried. You did everything right once she was in your care and this is not your fault... It helps me to take a philosophical approach to this sort of thing. I tell myself that it just wasn't meant to be...

And you are not insane. Many of us feel that way here. We DO share a common bond and I converse more with some of the members here than I do with some friends or family. Take care. Know that you are in our thoughts and we wish you and your family the best.
