Hello I'm thinking of transferring my redfoot ( who's about 2 years old and maybe 4.5 inches into an area that is 6 feet by 20 inches .. I'm wondering if I can fit another tortoise or two in the for a while .. I know not to keep them in pairs but can 3 work .. Thanks

How long are you wanting your 3 torts to live in this size enclosure. My 3 juvies are in a 2x4. At 14months old they have outgrown it. They are becoming very active and need more space, I'm working on this next. Just saying if you are going to the effort of making an enclosure why not make it bigger now so it lasts for longer. You could even make a big enclosure but block half off for now. This way when they get more active you can remove the partition. This spare side would also double up if you feel you need to seperate any of them. Just thoughts I've had for my next enclosure. :)

I have a 4x8ft playpen for my redfoots (they use it separately) and I feel like that isn't nearly enough. I've followed my 4 inch tort over 100 yards while she's wandered, chomping on the dandelions and attacking weeds the whole way. The big male is a whole other story, he walks all over our 5 acres when we go out for a wander.
