    Our new family member!!

I just rescued a 5 and a half year old Sulcata today! He is quite pyramided, but otherwise healthy, active, social and really really cool!!! I now have 4 "special" Sulcatas. A 3-legged 3.5 year old, a healthy 8mo hatchling, and a sick little hatchling that I've been trying to nurse back to...

Looking for cheap, sturdy fencing ideas!

I am rescuing a 100+ lb Sulcata. I have three others, but this will be my first adult. I'm extremely excited, but there is work to be done. My backyard is already secure, we have brick walls all around the perimeter. We plan to allow him to roam freely back there, but I have a vegetable garden...

    Sad Reality

I have a huge terrarium and love my Sulcatas. When my first Sulcata grew out of it and moved outside, I was incredibly excited to raise my next baby. Of course, I wanted the best deal. So I did my "bargain hunting" and found a guy on Craigslist selling his babies for only $40 each. That was my...

Hatchling with bubbles on his nose

My sulcata baby is about 4 months old. For the past 2 weeks, he's been less active, and on Thursday I noticed his nose was running. Yesterday I completely changed their home; from an open top tub that could only get to about 85 degrees to a terrarium, so that I could keep him warmer. The warmest...

    My sully's new enclusure

Finally no more humidifier blowing 24/7! Finally warm enough with less than 4 lamps! :) Can you find my cats face? (The second pic is my "before" pic.) :) [hr] Or first pic... I think they posted out of order! Lol.

Is Mazuri really good for tortoises?

I've been buying Mazuri through a seller on here. He sends it in ziploc bags so i never knew much, but assumed it was just Mazuri. Which it is! But before I ordered some more, I asked him to send me the info about it. He sent me a picture of info straight from the larger bag that it came in...

    Recycled burrow?

I was sitting around looking at all the trash piled up in my house, when I noticed this long black styrofoam packaging thing... About 18" long, 5" wide and 3" high... And this lightbulb came on in my brain... It's a burrow for hatchlings!!!! As soon as I put it inside, my shy guy ran straight...

    Just wanted to say...

I will someday have a redfoot. Someday!!! I might end up becoming a tortoise hoarder. And that excites me. ;)

Does anyone dream about their tortoises?

I just woke up from a nightmare involving squished tortoises and a LOT of pyramiding. One of the tortoises I saw had pyramids in the shape of a square. Does anyone else worry about their tortoises through nightmares or dreams? Or is my subconscious just pathetically obsessed?

    Tortoise wont eat!!!

I got my baby sulcata on Sunday. I haven't seen him eat yet. There's a possibility that he's eaten when I'm not watching, but I don't know. I've tried everything. I worked up a sweat; blending his greens, putting him in a bowl full of puréed pumpkin, went out in the dark garden picking lettuce...

    New baby

I just adopted a new baby, to add to my planets! His name is Jupiter. The breeder I got him from gave him to me, to compensate for the one that had died a couple of weeks ago due to what appeared to be a growth hormone issue, and severe dehydration. He was dehydrated and sick when I got him...

My tortoise can climb and jump.

Their indoor enclosure used to be sooo fun, it had two neat custom houses, rocks to walk around and some other "decorative things". But since he's decided to climb everything in there, he now has the saddest, most boring enclosure ever :( no houses, no rocks, just a water bowl and substrate...

Just finished my torts outdoor house!

I found a couple on Craigslist that was selling their homemade (and very well made!) doghouse. It was just $25, and soooo perfect!! I just transformed it into the perfect Turtlehouse. I know my sulcata is going to get a LOT out of it!! I installed a mini double dome light fixture inside, and put...

Need tips for heated outdoor box

Hi! My 3-year-old Sulcata is deathly bored of being cooped up inside with his younger sibling. Its time to get him outside! We live in southern California. He's already got a great, big, safe outdoor enclosure that he spends most of his days in, but the cooler weather in the morning and early...

    URI treatment

My 3-year-old sulcata, Mercury, had bubbles on his nose, so I took him to the vet 3 days ago, knowing it could be a URI. They looked him over and said it "indeed looked like a URI". They gave him a injection of Fortaz, and deworming. They also took some of his poop. ;) yummy :D I was told...

Looking for some opinions regarding my vet visit...

This Tuesday, (August 21st), I noticed bubbles on Mercury's nose (my 3-year-old Sulcata). I knew that was a bad sign, and was going on vacation, so I took him that day to All Creatures Care cottage in Costa Mesa (this is on the vet list). About a month ago, I'd gotten two new baby hatchlings...

    My Planets

Hi! I would like to introduce my two Sulcatas, Mercury and Venus. Mercury is my 3-year-old, 3-legged baby. (Ill be posting another thread about his story soon.) Venus is my new 3-month-old hatchling. In the picture, there are two hatchlings; Bowser passed away this morning. I'll be posting a...
