I'm thinking about getting a tortoise online. I have never gotten a tortoise this way before. I was wondering if anyone had any past experiences doing this; good or bad. I was also wondering if you could recommend a site you like or know well.

I want to make an educated decision with as little risk as possible to my future tortoise. I have already investigated several sites, but I would still like input from someone else.

Tortoisesupply.com! I got a hatchling from Tyler in December and the tortoise arrived on time and has had no issues! I got exactly what I ordered and he was super helpful (it was my first tortoise)

I got one of my tortoises online. I got her from LLL Reptile, and they were great about it. I recommend them.

I have heard that backwaterreptiles is not a very good source. But I know that turtlesource (sells turtles & tortoises ) is a very Well educated and good place to receive tortoises from. I have had good experience with lllreptiles also.

There are several forum members in here who also supply torts (or the market in general) with lots of experience , quality animals and best of all ....support and advice for many ...many years.
Look under the Breeders list here on the forum .....What type of tort are you thinking of getting?

Regards,
JD~:)

Turtleshack hasn't gotten very good grades from members here. Do a Search and read what's been said about them.

Tortoise supply and Arizona tort compound are the best that I've heard of.

I'd go with AZ tortoise compound or Tortoise Supply. I haven't bought from ATC before, but you can tell from their posts that they do a really great job. I did buy from Tyler from Tortoise Supply though. My male Russian is absolutely full of personality and life. Tyler also provided us with quick advice and answers to our questions whenever we needed them. They're friendly, an it's just a great family run business. Also look into getting their testudo seed mix!

Thanks everyone for your input, I am leaning towards either Arizona Tortoise Compound or Tortoise Supply.
