Just a note, for what it's worth... With galapagos, we are reluctant to use corn-based foods. So the LS was a good option. I find all my tortoises do learn to eat it and eat it eagerly. However, we recently also have been using Purina Equine Senior Horse Feed. Formulated very similar to LS, but about 1/5 the price - 50 lbs for about $24. Makes a difference when you are feeding a lot of tortoises!
It is 14% protein and low carbohydrate. No corn. Right calcium/phosphorus ratio with D3, magnesium and other essential vitamins. Also much lower in sugars as there is much less molasses in the formula. With tortoises and the very slow gut transit times, having low sugar and no corn eliminates some of the potential problems with that fermenting in the gut.
