I know. I live in Florida too, and it was so humid today, it drained me. And, it's not even summer yet! I think I'm gonna dig myself a hole and take a mud bath with the torts

WOOOWWW what a good day to start!!!!
I would imagine you have fairly sandy soil? I would also guess that they compact the soil with use so that over time the mud holes hold water for a longer period of time? I have very sandy soil and I think the water would drain before I finish filling it!I want one of those! That's so funny Greg, I made you nervous

There's a lot of that going on, ay?
Today was a great day, Norma was hand fed her last meal in segregation form her eye surgery. She has been segregated for three months for recovery and healing. Today she was released back into our breeding population and she seemed very happy. She ate wild fresh grass and weeds for several hours as we monitored and photographed her first few hours. She seems to have adjusted fantastically with only one eye.

I agree. Even in dark soil, water drains rather quickly. What I would do is dig a hole, size it with a drain pan, pour quick set cement in it. When it's done, water can be put into it. I've already done that, but my torts don't use it, not even to drink. I want a muddy bath. There's something attractive about all that mud on the body, LŌL. I'll just have to import a hole from Greg's farm...I would imagine you have fairly sandy soil?
