Hissing sound

so my tortoise has been making a “hissing” sound when it feels threatened or picked up is this normal.

Let me also clarify it never happens at any other time just when it feels threatened

When tortoises retract quick into their shell they have to eject the air out of their lungs. That makes the hissing sound you hear.
A tortoise that has a respiration infect makes noises with every breath he or she takes.
