zilla tube uvb fixture

I bought a Zilla UVB tube fixture with a bulb in it already. The fixture has a clear plastic piece that is screwed on over the bulb area. Was I right to remove it so that there's nothing between the bulb and the tort? Doesn't plastic block UVB?

Yea you were right to remove it, plastic does block UVB.
