Hi everybody,

As this is the place to show your enclosure, I thought I'd share.

My Russian Yoshi (popular name;) ) came last week, the enclosure was made of solid aquarium glass, and was not workable for me.

I read a lot about people housing their torts in rabbit cages, and this appealed to me. I like the big space, the openness and the ability to get to everything.

Yoshi, is exploring, digging, redecorating and eating a lot:)

I have a lot of fun observing and enjoying the little hiker.

Here's my cage:

it's dimensions are in cm:
110x60x50

The enclosure has one lightbulb, Solar Raptor 100 watts, for heat and UVB.

I decorated it with a flower pot with some hay for sleeping / hiding, a piece of cork bark, and some branches.

Looks nice. I would be a little concerned about the sand, it causes impactions. Switching it to dirt will be a good thing for him. Also, they should have some humidity, about 30% for an adult, little hard to do with such an open enclosure! but you could add a different substrate to the hide! hay is very drying! and give him a humid hide.

Now, seeing you teased us with the other enclosures in the pic, what else to do you keep?:D

Thank you for the advice,

I am changing her substrate for sure.
I am trying to find some unfertilized peat of coco peat and am going to mix that up with sand.
Very much looking forward to that because the sand is so heavy in the cage.

I saw her eating sand, but probably was eating some hay, I soaked her today and man... there was a big poop.
And now she is nice and clean patrolling around.

She is a bit shy (only have her for almost a week now)
But she eats out of my hand, is curious enough to wander around and inspect my doings in her cage, I adore her.

Thanks!!

Take care

Hi everybody,

I have changed the substrate to unfertilized peat with a bit of sand.
I like the new look, Yoshi's colors look amazing in contrast!:)

This substrate was not working out for me, it looked very depressing, sad I was not happy with it. The whole color/texture just didn't feel right.

I threw out all the peat and bought serveral coco peat / Eco earth bricks and mixed it up with a bit of leftover sand.

Of course it's a bit moist now but I will let it dry and eventually it will look like the real savannah deal. ;)

Thought I'd let you guys know I am much happier with this substrate, Yoshi looks amazing on it, and just the overall look and practicality of it is just wonderful.

Take care ,

Joey

She was digging in the corner for every evening, so I decided to help her with her digging needs:

I removed the flower pot she wasn't using , and replaced the big cork bark hide, purchased a second for decoration and this works out great.
She approved and went to sleep in it by herself last night:)

Happy!!
