Sulcata from the turtle source (shoulda looked a little more into them). My redfoots were free off Facebook! Now my newest acquisition is a SA leopard from Tom!
What would I have saved? I’m just curious the price difference.
How did you get a free redfoot on Facebook? Is there a group that offers them up?Sulcata from the turtle source (shoulda looked a little more into them). My redfoots were free off Facebook! Now my newest acquisition is a SA leopard from Tom!

Oh my gosh, look at the size of that tortoise! How cool is that.Found CA Desert Tortoise walking by the street in our neighborhood. Posted found signs around but no one called. He turned out to be a very social escaping tortoise. After he got out of the fence a few times we put and address label on the back of his shell (which I learned you are not supposed to do). As new residents we ended up meeting a lot of our neighbors when they returned the tortoise to us

We met more neighbors on regular walks around the block and saw someone had a gigantic African Sulcata Tortoise in their yard. Finally we met that tortoise owner one day. In our first conversation they asked us if we wanted the giant sulcata.

Absolutely !
Sheldon is beautiful and looks very healthy. You are doing a good job as a tort DAD !He is a Sulcata, his/her name is Sheldon. It's my daughter's, and while she excels at other things in life and I'm very proud of her... Her tortoise care is lacking. So I've kind of taken over the reins of this shelled creature. Here's a picture of him.View attachment 238656
Lol.First of all, many, many years ago, we just took in tortoises that we found walking around in our neighborhood. . . never even considering we should try to find their owners. After a while those all escaped, and I didn't have turtles or tortoises for quite a few years. Then my son came home from the service, bought a house and started accumulating box turtles that were ill cared for from pet stores . One of his co workers gave him a desert tortoise their dad drove over with his tractor while discing between grape rows. After a while my son bought a rottweiler pup and the pup wouldn't leave the turtles and tortoise alone, so he gave them to me. That was way back in the '70s. It's been all downhill from there!
Haha! I love it!Shortly after I got my tort my wife got mad and said its either her or the tortoise, I still miss her sometimes.....
