Wheat grass

I added a new planting to Darwin's enclosure this week ... sprouted wheat seeds.



I put about a tablespoon of seeds in a four ounce mason jar and soaked them twice a day until they started to sprout. Then I through in a couple of tablespoons of soaked substrate (I use cypress mulch) and left out for another day.



Once the "grass" is up about an inch, I buried the mason jar in the substrate in Darwin's enclosure.

It's grown up nicely and I see him nibbling at it all day while I'm writing ... I've started a new jar ooof seeds and will replace this one with the new one over the weekend.

Cool, I might get some. I sprinkle terrarium grass and Chia seeds every few weeks in my enclosures.

Interested to see how long it lasts.

My guy's small enough that it grows faster than he eats it, but I'm probably going to switch it out every ten days or so.
