So I noticed on my redfoot that he had these "cut" like things on his front legs. What could they be? ImageUploadedByTortForum1391050383.809594.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1391050394.959309.jpg

No...it's minor. My opinion on tortoise injuries is: If this were a human child with the same injury, would you do first aid, or would you take the child to the pediatrician. Most tortoise injuries are minor and can be treated with first aid.

I THINK that your tortoise was trying to climb the wall, and slipped quickly back down injuring the legs on the shell. This usually happens on the back of the neck.

How big is your habitat?

Right now while their new home is being build they are in rubber maid tubs. Better I have a picture! This is only temporary. We are in the process of moving and I'm building them a new table. They have only been in these for about a month. And won't be in them for very much longer. This particular redfoot is my adventurous one. He absolutely hates being restrained. If he can't be with the other torts he sulks in his hide. He is like a child! Lol. I notice the cuts last night. Do you have any idea of what I could put on his scrapes? Should I just leave them be? They will also have individual outside enclosures when it warms up in late march. ImageUploadedByTortForum1391104983.445629.jpg

The ramps also have that kitchen counter slip resistant liner on them not just wood.

Any kind of first aid cream will do. I use NeoSporin.

Your picture looks like an assembly line! LOL! I'm surprised that the low side walls are able to contain that second from the right tortoise. It looks like he can just step right out.

My sulcata is very well behaved. I love her to death. She is the rule follower. Lol. She will sometimes get on the edge of the enclosure when she is hungry. She will rest her legs over the edge and stare at me. I will set her outside and she will never stray.... Rupert on the other hand is a runner.. He is a little stinker. I'm going to have to take extra precautions for his outdoor penn.

If you'll post a picture of the sulcata's bottom shell, including the tail area, we can give you a pretty good guess if its male or female. He/she might be a tad too young yet to know for sure, unless the breeder has told you he incubated for female.

I'm pretty sure she is female. I'll see if I have one saved.

I don't have any pic the bottom shell. I'll take one when I get home. :) I should be learning history but I'm learning about tortoises instead! Lol
