its an eastern box turtle!!
Definitely NOT an eastern box turtle. It's an ornate box turtle as Yvonne said. It's a male that also has some lawnmower damage. Best to let it go on it's way.

Do ornates have the green head? I was leaning towards desert box turtle. Probably ornate though.
Desert box turtles are a subspecies of ornate box turtle, hence the scientific name of Terrapene ornata luteola. Supposedly they should not be in Lubbock Tx.

Thank you both for clarifying.Plastron is Ornate. And C2 looks Ornate (Desert has more rays - 11-14 I think).
