Hello !! I’ve noticed this morning a discolouration on the plastron and shell of my almost a year old red foot tortoise.
It’s firm, not flaky. I got 2 baby at the same time. This one having the discolouration is growing a lot faster than the other one. What do you think ?

That happens with cherry head tortoises. Are you sure your tortoise is a redfoot or a cherryhead?

This looks like growth :) Some redfoots can have light patterning on their sides, I didn’t know what they were called previously, but I searched it up and they’re labelled ‘ivory cherryhead tortoises’. I’ll post an image showing what to expect once that growth comes in. Especially since the white is surfacing where new growth occurs, I would definitely say this is just growth.

Some people call them marbled cherry heads as well.

Do they have separate enclosures? If not, that is why the other one is growing more slowly. Tortoises should never be kept in pairs.
