Hi everyone. So I rescued a Russian tortoise yesterday and I'd like to get all your opinion. His shell to me seems in poor condition and I'm not sure if it was from his diet (only lettuce) or what. I only say it's in poor condition because it isn't smooth. And looks like it's flaking up and pyramiding. Any suggestions of what to do for him? i was told he was thought to be 7 or 8 years old. The people I rescued him from had him for a year and a half.

I'm going to assume he's taken from the wild ( that's what most pet shops sell ) because of his shell . The second pict looks like a tic on his shell kill the tic .and check his body over real good for any more .i would sugest you give him a warm water bath .

Double checked but the spot in the 2nd pic is part of his substrate. Do you think he is pyramiding?
