Hi
My horsefield tortoise is sometimes wagging her tail when walking I've noticed.
Does anyone know why they do this?

I agree. My Russian does it all the time. Sometimes she does it randomly just to switch which side she wants her tail to aim. It's pretty common. :)

Usually right before a bathroom break, his tail will shift back and forth.

Oli also does it before pooping/peeing. Nothing to worry about.

There is no way to know for sure..all of the torts here wag at different times..some when eating a treat..some when walking through sprinkler and some just wag when they muck about..or when I offer a shell scratching the tail gets going..
