Vitashell?

Has anyone used this Vitashell? Just rescued this 3 year old guy and he is perking up and doing well now after soaks and sun. Today is day 3 and I have noticed some shell damage? The keratin seems flaky in certain areas. Should I do anything or just let it be? Thank you.
