I have lived in this house for 15 years. The mouse, rat, 'possum, vole, raccoon and feral cat issue as far as I'm concerned has just gotten steadily worse. All the poisonings in the world won't stop the damage from these animals, chewed wires, cable, and siding. My yard is separated from a grass seed farmers field and when he burns the weeds all those vermin come to my yard. Actually they dig into my tortoise pens then cross them and dig under my house.
These holes probably won't make much sense to you, but I only did part of the pens...
one of the holes in the shed...

I have more hole photos, but I have given myself a headache, so far no evidence of holes in the shed...yet. But I'm guessing you get the idea.

Well real deep, real tall cinder block fences might help. How far can voles dig or cats jump??

Nope, my tortoise pens are surrounded by a solid 4 ft cedar fence, but instead of jumping up and over using the fence, they chew and dig and make large holes in the bottom of the fences. Inside the outer fence my pens are divided using cinder block. They are ruining a $1500 fence.
