Valentine's new enclosure. I have been researching bioactive substrate and enclosures. This is what I have come up with so far for our new redfoot. Substrate is a mixture of coconut coir, topsoil, and sand. With some mulch around plants. Plants include hosta, kale, lettuce, clover, and grassy area.I also planted Zinnia seeds which have yet to sprout. Also there are about 8 earthworms. Have yet to find any pill bugs (roly poly bugs). Any suggestions on what else I may need are greatly appreciated. 20160323_193008.jpg

My kids have really good luck finding pill bugs after the rain (or the sprinklers) on the sidewalk or near the base of plants and grass. They need moisture (like worms) to 'breathe.'
