UVB?

Hi. I have a special bulb that was designed for tortoises. I think it is heat mixed with UVB but I am not sure. In the past few weeks I have been noticing people talking about UVB. I don't have a blue coily light if that is what I am meant to have. I just wonder if what I have is ok? I don't have one of these. ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1402943144.321290.jpg

Those bulbs I would not use. A mercury vapor bulb or tube bulb is best. Arcadia sells a nice one for UVB.

The one you showed is good, the one the original post is for treating skin issues or some treatment of some sort. Those lights don't provide UVA or proper UVB rays and percentages. Most of those will shoot UVC rays which is needed by not much of it is by tortoises. They benefit from UVB/UVA.
