I recently took my 2 year old hermann to the vets (about 4 days ago) as I thought he had a minor respiratory infection. The vet agreed and said he has a mild upper respiratory infection and gave me antibiotics to treat it.
I’ve struggled to give him the antibiotics as he is very stubborn and I am careful to not open his mouth and hurt him. He’s taken a decent sized dose once. Since then he seemed to perk up a bit!
But just now I gave him a bath and he first past urates, then followed by a really big poo (I attached a pic as I thought it looked strange.. possibly a worm? or just residual urates?), then I was very worried as he passed a small amount of blood shortly afterwards☹️
My mum suggested that it was a very big poo and maybe the blood was due to straining…
But I am sceptical. Passing blood is not a good sign for any animal so I am very concerned for him.
I am going to call tomorrow and make an appointment with a specialist reptile/exotic pet veterinary clinic in my area. But until then can anyone help? Has anyone seen this before?
