Just checked with our local organization
Agree! And give us a good closeup shot of the complete top and front margins of the shell and head and legs of the tortoise. That is NOT a DT. Do not release it into the wild.
Give it a warm soak for 20-30 minutes and give it a light brushing with a soft tooth brush or something similar. Also show us the plastron.
Sorry you released it before Yvonne had a chance too confirm. Incase you didn't know, when someone does this @ in front of a members name, that gives that member an alert to check out a particular thread/post. Some of us will do this to call in who we consider an expert to confirm something. Best too always wait for that expert too come in before making any changes. Sorry i didn't make that clear before you put it back. Luckily he waited for you. I guess he knew he didn't belong.I believe it is a Dt and most likely illegal for you to have taken in. If they are native to your area you need to put it back. Not only illegal to take from the wild, they shouldn't be taken from the wild.
@Yvonne G can confirm if it is a DT I think
I agree head and legs like a DT but carapace kind of looks like a leopard?Could that be a possible hybrid? It has the head, legs, and shape of a desert tortoise, but those dots on the scutes look like a leopard. Very unique. Quite a find!
I agree. Legs and head doesn't look like a leopard too me either but a DT. The spots are very different.Could that be a possible hybrid? It has the head, legs, and shape of a desert tortoise, but those dots on the scutes look like a leopard. Very unique. Quite a find!
