I posted back in May of 2010 about a stray sulcata tortoise that I found roaming around a state park in NY. I'm happy to say that I have since moved to Alabama, and my new home came pre-equipped with tortoise yards! So, Morla has become a permenant addition to my family
She does need to overwinter indoors, but it's easy for now while she's small. When she gets bigger, I might need to heat one of our sheds or wall off part of the basement for her. We'll cross that bridge when we get there!
I unfortunately can't seem to find the pic I took a while back of her yard (grr) but here is a photo of her enjoying it:
She's very sweet, loves being petted on the head, and seems to be benefitting from having a proper, mostly grass and hay diet. Of course, she still gets leafy greens as a treat... generally while sitting on the couch "watching TV" with me!
