hello, I'm not in the UK, so I hope I'm not intruding on this thread. I just wanted to let you know that I have had a lot of success growing grass and weeds under flourescent lights indoors. I've posted a lot about it in the "garden chat" thread and would be happy to share any of my experience.

I've also been testing out freezing and drying garden greens and weeds. There are many grass and weeds that I'm finding can handle the freezing process just great and I have started a thread about it. I know that many of these are available in UK and Europe... http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/these-can-be-frozen-thawed-and-retain-good-texture.128563/

I have also been drying healthy leaves like squash and pumpkin leaves. Grass can be frozen and also dried. For drying, I follow the method that Turtulas-len explained to me in this thread...

Hi :)

for the first time ever I am going to over winter my tortoise so done quite a bit of research to prevent feeding the same stuff all the time!
For store bought food you can get lambs lettuce, artichokes, romaine lettuce, kale and occasionally get carrot tops
It would be worth while picking some weeds from the roots and potting them indoors - my torts faveroutes are dandelion, clover, sow thistle, stinging nettles, scotch thistles and hawkbit. You will need to water them everyday and use a light to keep them alive - I'll be honest I haven't tried it myself yet so keeping my fingers crossed it works :)
Try getting grass seeds as well - I bought these from Amazon I'm going to give a try over winter - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...rass+seeds&dpPl=1&dpID=51TO0Nk+4ZL&ref=plSrch. I'm also bringing my viola inside and bought a weed growing kit so if you have any plants outdoors try and bring them in.
Hope this helps
