I'd like to give my Russian some rose petals. Her last owner/rescuer said she loves them, but I'm not sure what kind is best. Is there a certain type of rose they like best or doesn't it matter?

You wouldn't think it would make any difference, but it does. Different tortoises have developed a taste for different types of rose. I have two climbing roses, one with pink flowers and one with red. My Russians will only eat the pink ones.

I have found this to be true of so many of the plants and flowers. Each animal may have it's own likes and dislikes between varieties of one kind of plant or flower.

Oh I wouldn't use florist roses. Our household eats organic and that includes Sunny!
